The II Photobiennale of The Russian Museum

In St. Petersburg is opening the exhibition of participants of the II Photobiennale of The Russian Museum. On March 23 in the Marble Palace, you will see 350 photos of various genres, which represent a cross-section of modern art photographers — both professionals and amateurs. Sponsor and founder of a special prize Photobiennale is the cultural and charity foundation U-Art: You and the Art.

Russian museum workers suggest that regular exhibitions of «Museum Biennial of Contemporary Photography» provides an opportunity to acquaint the viewer with the work of contemporary Russian photographers every two years.

Current members of the artistic process become a large number of photographers from different regions of the country, thanks to information and technical capabilities, Internet communications.

All comers could send their works to participate in the Photobiennale. This year staff of the Russian Museum received more than 2000 photos, of which museum's advisory council selected work for exhibition. Conventionally, the work can be divided into nine thematic sections: «Scene,» «Everyday,» «City,» «Faces,» «Still-Life», «The beauty of the body,» «Landscape», «believers», «Imaginary.»

Thematic and genre diversity of products involved in this ambitious project, allows you to discover the catholicity of photography art, to demonstrate its inherent expressiveness and imaginative artistic language.

Traditionally, during the Exhibition take place the voting that will determine the most favorite audience’s photos. These works along with the choice of an expert jury will be selected to participate in a special exhibition of works by the winners Biennale.

Authors of best photos will be awarded, including a special prize of the cultural and charity foundation U-Art: You and the Art.
