Vivacello XIV: Cello Music Festival Starts in Moscow
The only cello music festival in
Russia, VIVACELLO, will be held from 12 to 26 November at the main concert
venues in Moscow.
The rich musical program reveals different facets of the cello art and includes
works of various formats and genres - from grand symphonic works to early
Soviet jazz hits.
“Vita” (“Life”) is the main theme of
this year's festival. It is this subject that unites the five festival concerts
and defines the spirit of the entire program.
As is tradition, VIVACELLO will begin
with a huge premiere: for the first time, Actus tragicus for cello and
orchestra by the Moscow composer Sergei Akhunov will be presented to the
audience. Besides, for the first time in the history of the festival the music
of the contemporary Israeli composer Baruch Berliner will be performed: Art
Director of VIVACELLO, honored artist of Russia Boris Andrianov will present
his interpretation of concerto for cello and orchestra “Jacob's
Dream”.
The festival participants include
Alexander Knyazev, the leading figure of the national performing school, Narek
Hahnazaryan (Armenia), the winner of the 14th International Tchaikovsky
Competition, and the famous Russian-German ensemble Rastrelli Cello Quartet,
which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. In addition, Boris
Andrianov himself will perform in different styles –– academic and
jazz.
