Reconstruction for New Life

of the maternity clinic department meets all modern requirements

for neonatal resuscitation.

Overhaul works and re-equipment of the maternity clinic at the city clinical hospital number 52 were completed in Moscow. Modern and comfortable obstetric hospital is now ready to admit up to five thousand patients a year which is almost two times more than before the reconstruction.

The history of the maternity clinic, which until 2014 was an independent institution and was called the maternity clinic number 26, encompasses about 60 years, and the current overhaul works became the first during all this time. But now only the facade and the stairs remained of the old building, all the rest – elevators, floors, walls, windows, doors, ventilation and heating systems, water supply and sewerage, electrical wiring – everything was replaced. The large-scale reconstruction works took about four years.

Now the obstetric hospital has 100 beds. The medical institution provides the entire range of diagnostic and therapeutic care for pregnant women, postpartum women and newborns.

– Both the hospital specialists and the level of equipment allow to manage even the most complex cases, – says the head physician of the city clinical hospital number 52 Mariana Lysenko. It is for example referred to patients with hematological diseases, with kidney diseases or who are on a partial renal replacement therapy. Also, here doctors will be able to nurse children with extremely low body weight – up to 500 grams. To do this, the neonatal intensive care unit is prepared.

– The maternity clinic premises were re-equipped according to all modern requirements. 277 units of the latest medical equipment were purchased for them. Representatives of the supplier company also organized the new devices training for employees, – the head physician said.

– The clinic is equipped with quality equipment that meets world standards, – says the chief technical officer of the supplier company MedImport Artem Kravchenko who is in charge of the implementation of new technologies in the maternity clinic. – These are the resuscitation tables for newborns, equipment for surgery and artificial lung ventilation, medical consoles and many other devices. It is also important that it is not only functional but also aesthetic, – the specialist said. Interestingly that aesthetics plays an important role in creation of psychologically comfortable conditions for the patients’ stay in the medical institution – and this is also the standard of modern treatment.

Sterilization department of the maternity clinic is also well thought out. Usually, a separate building is allotted for it, which serves several buildings of hospitals. But here the maternity clinic is directly equipped with its own sterilization center.

– As you know, this is the sixth maternity clinic which underwent full reconstruction. The service quality and number of patients increase many-fold. I think that this maternity clinic will be comfortable, – Sergei Sobyanin expressed the hope at the opening of the maternity clinic. The head of the capital also noted that due to activities on improvement of medical service for mothers and children, infant mortality over the past year decreased by 28.6% in Moscow, and maternal mortality – by 32.6%. In addition, in 2015 in the capital a record number of children – 142 thousand – were born.
